A corrente elétrica<\/a> é o fluxo ordenado de cargas elétricas<\/a> através de um condutor<\/a>. Em materiais metálicos, como fios de cobre, esse fluxo é composto<\/a> por elétrons livres<\/a>, partículas carregadas negativamente que orbitam os átomos. Nos líquidos, como soluções salinas, há movimento tanto de íons positivos quanto negativos, que se deslocam em direções opostas. Por convenção, o sentido da corrente elétrica<\/a> é definido como o fluxo das cargas positivas, mesmo que no caso de metais sejam os elétrons que realmente se movam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Os materiais que permitem o fluxo de corrente<\/a> elétrica são denominados condutores<\/a>, como os metais. Já aqueles que impedem o fluxo de corrente<\/a>, devido à ausência de elétrons livres<\/a> ou sua forte ligação<\/a> ao núcleo atômico, são chamados isolantes<\/a>. Exemplos de isolantes<\/a> incluem o plástico e a borracha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A intensidade da corrente depende da quantidade de carga<\/a> que atravessa o condutor<\/a> por unidade de tempo, sendo medida em amperes (A). A geração e condução da corrente elétrica<\/a> são fundamentos essenciais para o funcionamento de sistemas aeronáuticos, incluindo comunicação<\/a>, navegação e controle de voo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
